Why Donate?

“Never doubt that a small group of concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead

Every dollar you donate truly makes a difference. Without your support we would not be able to provide our programs. Thanks to generous people like you, we are able to provide education programs every year to 10,000+ people that would not otherwise not have the opportunity. Without your help, we would not be able to protect thousands of animals every day with our Bird & Wildlife Sanctuary. Thanks to donors like you, our world is a better place. Massive strides are being made to ensure that wildlife in the Pacific northwest is preserved for its own intrinsic value and for the benefit of all. Thank you to all our donors of all ages and all contribution amounts!

Where does your money go?

Preserving wildlife is an expensive undertaking. We are a small grassroots organization but our reach and impact are enormous. We provide hundreds of programs to thousands of people every year throughout British Columbia and we also protect a large property as a wildlife sanctuary. This takes a lot of human resources, an office from which to operate, equipment, materials, and supplies, as well as ancillary costs like service fees, insurance and taxes. In 2016 our total expenses were $324,354. Take a look at our Annual Reports to learn about what specifically we’ve been up to each year and how your money was spent. As we are a registered Canadian charity (BN133029140 RR0001) with the Canada Revenue Agency, you can also see our information on the CRA website here. Both have detailed financial statements that show you where every dollar went.

There are many ways you can donate to Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society. A tax receipt will be provided for every donation unless you specify otherwise.

Join our Monthly Giving Club

For the cost of a cup of a coffee each month, you can help ensure wildlife is preserved for its own intrinsic value and for the benefit of all. Take the hassle out of donating by setting up an recurring payment that automatically gets charged to your credit card each month. You can set it for any amount, and you can pre-set a start and end date if you want. If set to run continuously, payments can be easily cancelled at any time. Your tax receipt will be emailed to you automatically after each donation is charged, and they are stored on your online account so you can access them at any time (ie tax season).

Memorial Gifts

A wonderful way to honour our loved ones is to support causes they cared deeply about. NWPS is blessed to be the recipient of such thoughtfulness and generosity. It is with a heavy but full heart that we share these names and messages on our donor page. To make a gift in memory or of someone, donate via CanadaHelps (links below) and tick the memorial box. There is an option to include a special message as well as the name.

Legacy Gifts

Looking to leave a legacy? There are many ways you can make a significant contribution to wildlife preservation in BC now and in perpetuity. Examples include deferred gifts through insurance policies, annuities, bequests and endowments, as well gifts in kind such as interests in land.

NWPS has an endowment fund set up to help ensure we can continue to preserve wildlife in perpetuity. Contribute to our endowment fund or learn more about your options by visiting our endowment page held with the Vancouver Foundation or contact our legacy giving representative Kerri at 604.638.8738.

Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society is the steward of Manley Farm Bird & Wildlife Sanctuary, a 240-acre parcel of mixed-use land, thanks to a generous bequest from Cynthia Granfield.

NWPS has been fortunate to receive legacy gifts from some very generous people over the years. You can see them on our donors page.

Contact us at accounting@northwestwildlife.com or 604-568-9160 to learn more, or check out this Green Legacy Giving Guide. We can mail you a hard copy if you prefer.
