"Habitat Preservation"

In April 2008, NWPS started the process of taking over responsibility for Manley Farm from the Granfield Estate. 240 acres of farm land and nature space located near Cobble Hill on Vancouver Island was bequeathed to the Society. The Manley Farm has approximately 180 acres of active farm and 60 acres of natural habitat.

NWPS has started the process of engaging the community in our activities on the property. The current plans are to continue the farming activities and maintain the natural spaces as they are. We will continue to host community meetings with various stakeholders to introduce ourselves and generate discussions regarding potential future plans for the Manley Farm. Our goal is to develop a Land Use Plan with community support within the next 3 years dovetailing into regional/district development plans.

We welcome feedback and support so please feel free to contact us. We are happy to hear about the history of the property and the neighbourhood. We would also appreciate any offers of support in time or funding. All donations generated on behalf of the Manley Farm will be designated for use on the Manley Farm project.

If you would like to learn more about our habitat preservation project, please contact Ann Peters at (604) 568-9160 or execdirector@northwestwildlife.com
