NWPS will be hosting a display table at OWL’s annual Open House May 4th and 5th! Get a ‘behind the scenes’ look at one of the busiest raptor rehabilitation centres in Canada! This is the only time of year that OWL opens up 70% of their facility to the public to get a peek at their medical facility and some of their various rehabilitation enclosures. See the process from intake and examination, to the flight pens, and then release. Come meet their local raptor species and learn about what they do!
The highlight of the Open House will be the release of a rehabilitated bird on both days at 1:00pm. Tours will leave on every half hour and there will be two ‘Raptor Meet and Greet’ events each day where you can get a more close-up view of some of their permanent residents. Come listen to David Hancock talk about Bald Eagles both days at 11:00am in the School House. After you visit with some of their birds, take a walk through the Wildlife Museum to learn about different raptor habitats and check out the unique gifts and wildlife theme items available in the Gift Shop! There will also be a raffle fundraiser with some awesome prizes from local sponsors.
Admission is by donation at the gate. Debit and credit accepted. 100% of the proceeds of the event are put towards food, medical supplies, cage upkeep, and facility growth. This is a great opportunity to help OWL and their dedication to the wellbeing of their raptors and getting them back to the wild and to learn more about what they do.
