On April 28th, NWPS joined the District of North Vancouver and the residents surrounding McKay Creek to restore habitat surrounding the creek. The group worked to remove invasive species from the area, especially invasive garden waste that had been dumped in the forest. At the end of the day, we planted several native tree species.

Removing invasive plant species by hand is tedious, but very important task. One of Earth Day event participants was unaware of the effects of dumping

garden waste and said "I will never dump another plant in the forest now that I know what it does."

A Western Trillium was discovered for the first time at the site. The plant is a protected species.
